Cut out any subject and export a transparent PNG
Boost resolution, sharpen detail, and reduce noise
NextG Design builds small, focused web tools for everyday photo editing tasks that normally mean installing software, creating an account, or uploading your pictures to a stranger's server. Both of our current tools work the opposite way: the entire tool — the AI model, the image-processing code, the file you're editing — runs inside the tab you're looking at right now, using your own device's processing power.
The Background Remover uses an on-device AI segmentation model to cut a subject out of a photo and export it as a transparent PNG, with manual erase/restore brushes for touching up anything the AI gets wrong. The Image Upscaler increases a photo's resolution by up to 400%, using edge-aware noise reduction and sharpening to make old, small, or blurry photos look clearer — without needing an AI model download at all. Read more on our About page, or browse practical, plain-language write-ups in our Guides.
Pick Background Remover or Image Upscaler depending on what you need.
Drag and drop, or choose a file. It loads straight into your browser's own memory — never a server.
Fine-tune with brushes, presets, or sliders, and see the exact result before you commit.
Save the finished PNG. Nothing is kept anywhere — refresh the page and it's gone, exactly as it should be.
No. Neither tool has a sign-up flow, a login, or a paywall. Open the page and start editing.
No. Both tools process images entirely client-side, in your browser, using the Canvas API and (for background removal) a WebAssembly AI model. See our Privacy Policy for the full technical explanation, including the one exception: the Background Remover downloads its AI model file from a CDN on first use — that download never includes your photo.
There's no artificial limit or quota — since processing happens on your own device, the only real constraint is your device's own memory and processing power. Very large images (well above typical photo resolution) may be slower or capped during export to keep the browser tab responsive.
The images you process are entirely yours — we never receive them, so we have no claim over them at all. See our General Terms and Conditions for the full terms of using the tools themselves.
