Relight with depth

A depth model estimates the 3D shape of the scene. From it the editor computes surface normals, so a light at any position and height brightens surfaces that face it and leaves the rest in shade. Set the light colour (warm tungsten, cool daylight, neon), strength, reach and ambient light, and darken the background to make the subject pop.

Depth fog and haze

Fog becomes denser with distance, exactly as in real atmosphere: choose where it starts, how gradually it builds and its colour — blue-grey for morning mist, orange for sunset haze, near-black for a moody night — plus a glow that scatters light in thick fog.

Tips

• Place the light slightly above and to the side of the subject for natural portrait lighting.
• Combine a soft key light with a little background darkening for a studio look.
• For landscapes, a touch of distant fog adds instant depth and drama.
