How the face swap works

Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker finds 468 points on each face. The editor builds one shared mesh from both faces, warps the source face triangle by triangle onto the target, and skips any part that the source photo can't show (the hidden side of a turned head). It then matches the overall skin colour and contrast and applies a smooth correction so the edges meet the target photo exactly. The swapped face goes on its own layer for fine-tuning.

For realistic results

• Use photos where both faces point the same way — front to front works best.
• Similar lighting direction and similar face size blend most convincingly.
• Swap several faces at once by clicking each face in the target photo.
• Lower the layer opacity a little or paint on its mask to blend the forehead and chin.

Use it responsibly

Only swap faces of people who have agreed. Never create sexual, humiliating, defamatory or deceptive images of real people — in many countries that's a crime. The tool asks you to confirm permission before swapping. Read our face swap guide for tips and the rules to follow.
